McDonogh Duals
USA Wrestling Cards
This will be a USA Wrestling sanctioned event and USA Wrestling cards will be
necessary to wrestle.  Please visit the
USA Wrestling website to purchase a card
online or cards will be available at McDonogh during weigh-ins.

Age
All wrestlers must be 14 and under (as of 12/31/08).  Be prepared to present
wrestler's birth certificate should an opposing team challenge a wrestler's age.  If a
team would like to challenge a wrestlers age, the challenging team will be required to
present birth certificates for all wrestlers on their team.

Roster
Teams may have more than one wrestler per weight class. Wrestlers may wrestle up
one weight class only.  Rosters will be due on Thursday, January 29th.  The
McDonogh Duals will provide coaches with an online roster to fill in and submit (a
printable copy will be available for coaches when completed).  Wrestlers may be
added to roster until the end of weigh-ins on Saturday, January 31st.

Matches
Matches will be 3 1.5 minute periods with standard overtime rules.

Table Worker
Each team will need to provide a table worker for their match in each of the 5 rounds.

Uniforms
Headgear is mandatory and team singlets are preferred.

Team Seeding
Seeding will be based on previous placement at the McDonogh Duals.  In addition we
will take other dual tournaments into consideration.  Seeding will be left up to the
tournament directors discretion.

Semi-final Seeding (round 4)
Seeding for the semi-finals will be based on the biggest difference between points
scored and points allowed in rounds 1-3.

3-way Tie (after round 3)
POOL
Team A = 2-1
Team B = 2-1
Team C = 2-1
Team D = 0-3

The 4th place team is easy to determine.  At 0-3 Team D is 4th.  Team A, B, and C
all beat each other.  The tie-breaker will be determined by the biggest difference
between team points scored for and scored against.  The scores between the three
tied teams are all that will count.  The scores from the match against Team D will not
be included.

Example:
Team A – 58 over Team B – 33
Team B – 63 over Team C – 28
Team C – 48 over Team A – 40

Add up points for:
Team A: 58 + 40 = 98
Team B: 33 + 63 = 96
Team C: 28 + 48 = 76

Add up points against:
Team A: 33 + 48 = 81
Team B: 58 + 28 = 86
Team C: 63 + 40 = 103

Now subtract the difference (points for – points against = difference)
Team A: 98 – 81 = 17
Team B: 96 – 86 = 10
Team C: 76 – 103 = -27

Based on the results, the rankings would be as follows:
Team A is 1st with a 17 point difference
Team B is 2nd with a 10 point difference
Team C is 3rd with a (-27) point difference
Team D is 4th with an 0-3 record
